Superintendent's Office

  • Happy Holidays! The new school year has gotten off to a wonderful start! There have been many things happening throughout our district since the start of school. We continue to place a heavy emphasis on teacher instruction and student engagement for all subjects in all grade levels.

The state assessment results released this past year reveal momentum being gained toward meeting the rigorous expectations we have for our students. Through comprehensive study of our results we are seeing positive improvements in writing and comprehension.

This school year we have also seen expansion in college now course offerings through collaboration with Richfield Springs, via distance learning and offerings within the school building.  We have gone from one to ten. In addition, we have also been able to add a section of Honors English. The electives and extra course offerings have been a direct result of our faculty’s dedication to doing what is best for our students and their willingness to go the extra mile.

I am proud of the work our teachers, guidance counselor, and academic coaches have done and continue to do to support our students. We are making positive strides in meeting our goal to graduate students who are college and career ready. Our teachers are a very professional group supporting one another as we make significant curriculum changes in writing and mathematics. We are motivated by the challenge to increase instructional relevance for our students while making Owen D. Young a model school within our region.

We are proud of our student body and our amazing faculty and staff. I look forward to continue working with all parties to provide our students with the best educational experience possible.
