The ethereal voices of the ODY Grades 7-12 Chorus soared high into the rafters at the Utica Memorial Auditorium as they sang the National Anthem to open the Utica Comets hockey game on April 16.
The student musicians gathered under the spotlights near center ice to perform an á capella rendition of the “Star-Spangled Banner.” As the song ended, the crowd burst into thunderous applause for the outstanding performance! View on Facebook
The grades 7-12 chorus also sang Canada's National Anthem in honor of the Toronto Marlies, the rival team facing off against the Comets. Following the performance, the students had an opportunity to watch the game and take pictures with the Comets mascot, Naudie, a mischievous alien-like creature. Although the home team dropped the game to Toronto, it was an event the choral students will always remember.
