ODY high school students were fired up to work alongside artist and metalsmith Marissa Perkins of Creative Roots Studio during a Torch-Fired Enamel workshop offered through the Herkimer-Fulton-Hamilton-Otsego BOCES Honors Program.

The four students learned how to create metal enamel jewelry — starting with a copper base and then adding different colored enamel powders to create the designs. Students heated their projects using a torch to melt the enamel to the copper.

"This was a great opportunity for students to explore an advanced art making process with the expertise and support of a professional artist," shared art teacher John Gardner.
